Craftsmen were lured from the rival Saint-Cloud factory, and a royal privilege permitted Chantilly to make porcelain painted in the Japanese 'kakiemon' style. The factory's artists copied Japanese porcelain in the collection of the Prince de Condé, to which they were granted direct access.\r\n\r\nSugar tureens replaced earlier caster shapes and were used at the dessert. Sugar was sifted through the pierced spoon.","physicalDescription":"Sugar or cream tureen, with cover, ladle and stand, soft-paste porcelain, tin-glazed and painted in enamels with floral decoration.","artistMakerPerson":[],"artistMakerOrganisations":[{"name":{"text":"Chantilly porcelain factory","id":"A12430"},"association":{"text":"manufacturer","id":"x33306"},"note":""}],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[],"techniques":[],"materialsAndTechniques":"Soft-paste porcelain, tin-glazed and painted in enamels","categories":[{"text":"Ceramics","id":"THES48982"},{"text":"Porcelain","id":"THES48907"},{"text":"Tableware & cutlery","id":"THES48888"},{"text":"Tea, Coffee & Chocolate wares","id":"THES48886"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"CER","id":"THES48594"},"images":["2008BT0250","2006BC7435","2006AH3523","2008BT0276","2006AU4126","2017KB3285"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"145 (VA)","id":"THES49865"},"free":"","case":"12","shelf":"3","box":""},{"current":{"text":"145 (VA)","id":"THES49865"},"free":"","case":"12","shelf":"3","box":""},{"current":{"text":"145 (VA)","id":"THES49865"},"free":"","case":"12","shelf":"3","box":""},{"current":{"text":"145 (VA)","id":"THES49865"},"free":"","case":"12","shelf":"3","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Sugar basin","id":""}],[{"text":"Sugar basin cover","id":""}],[{"text":"Sugar spoon","id":""}],[{"text":"Sugar basin stand","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""},{"apprise":"","note":""},{"apprise":"","note":""},{"apprise":"","note":""},{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"France","id":"x28849"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"ca. 1730s","earliest":"1725-01-01","latest":"1743-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"","dimensions":[],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[{"content":"a hunting horn","inscriber":{"name":{"text":"","id":"A8728"},"association":{"text":"","id":""}},"date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"description":"","interpretation":"","language":"","medium":"","method":"","position":"","script":"","translation":"","transliteration":"","type":"","note":"Painted in red enamel on tureen and stand"}],"objectHistory":"Purchase.
