He had commissioned the villa in 1934 from the architect Ladislav Zak. After Fric’s death in 1968, his widow preserved the house’s original interior, creating the haunting time capsule shown here. Othova’s interest is not so much in documenting the scene as in suggesting a lyrical narrative from the overlapping timescales suggested by the image.","physicalDescription":"Black and white photograph of an interior with a window to the right, two framed pictures on the wall, a sofa, three side tables and a lamp; in the foreground potted plants on a table.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Othova, Marketa","id":"A12711"},"association":{"text":"photographer","id":"AAT25687"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"photographic gelatin","id":"AAT183863"},{"text":"silver halide","id":"AAT130942"}],"techniques":[{"text":"gelatin silver process","id":"AAT139114"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Gelatin-silver print","categories":[{"text":"Photographs","id":"THES48910"},{"text":"Interiors","id":"THES48933"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"PDP","id":"THES48595"},"images":["2007BM3138"],"imageResolution":"low","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"B","id":"THES304607"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"photograph","id":"AAT46300"}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Prague","id":"x29087"},"association":{"text":"photographed","id":"x30151"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"2 November 2000","earliest":"2000-11-02","latest":"2000-11-02"},"association":{"text":"photographed","id":"x30151"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Purchased through the Cecil Beaton Royalties Fund","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"110","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"160","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"","historicalContext":"Something I Can't Remember was made on 2 November 2000, in Prague, at the former home of the Czech film director Martin Fric (1902-1968).
