Above a plain fillet a box frame on the left shows a naked boy under a tree. He stands frontally on a base wrapped by a piece of cloth around his right hip and over his left shoulder.  He is holding a large writing slate which rests on his hip with his left hand and a bag in his right hand.\r\nIn the main scene, Prince Siddhartha seen in profile rides to school on a huge ram, holding a bridle with his left hand.  Behind the ram stands a lady, possibly his stepmother and aunt, Mahaprajapati, handing him his writing materials on the way to school. Over her salwar she wears a knee-length garment with sleeves.
