The designers were inspired by a visit to the small chapel decorated by Matisse, in the village of Vence, Southern France.  The cope is a traditional, three quarter circle shape in emerald, gold and while, reminiscent of the whilte tiles and green stained glass of the chapel.  It was made by the Sisters at the convent in Haggeston, well known at one time for their sewing and embroidery skills.
