As their name suggests, these were primarily decorated with figures representing particular trades, but also sometimes with saints, mythological figures, animals and other figures and emblems. This example shows a man carrying a pack. Typically featuring polychrome decoration with a distinctive yellow band around the edge, such tiles were enormously popular throughout the 18th and into the 19th century.","physicalDescription":"Tin-glazed earthenware, from a house (now demolished) at Palma, Maojorca, outlined in manganese-purple and painted in blue, yellow, brown and green with a man walking along with a stick in his left hand and a pack on his back.
