It is likely to be on of the artist's earliest works, executed soon after his arrival in Augsburg from Swabia. Typical of Weiditz are the widely spaced letters of the inscription and the triangles used to separate its words.\r\nHabich identified the sitter as Lienhard Meringer (probably died 1549), a goldsmith who worked in Augsburg. The medal may form a pair with the medal of Katharina Meringer, an Augsburg citizen and almost certainly Lienhard's wife.","physicalDescription":"Medallion depicts on obverse the profile bust to the left of Meringer.
