He borrowed from the repertoire of Neoclassical ornament but his designs also included Egyptian and Chinoiseries motifs.\r\n\r\nDagoty's elegant ceramics won him the patronage of Empress Joséphine. At the height of production, in 1807, he employed over a hundred workers, and exported his wares to Russia. After the fall of the First French Empire in 1814, manufacture continued under the Duchesse d'Angoulême, the only surviving child of Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette.\r\n\r\nBetween 1816 and 1820, Dagoty worked in partnership with François Maurice Honoré. In 1817. Dagoty and Honoré received a commission from President James Monroe of the United States for a dinner service and matching dessert service.","physicalDescription":"Design in wash on paper, pasted in volume","artistMakerPerson":[],"artistMakerOrganisations":[{"name":{"text":"Dagoty porcelain factory","id":"A12419"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28674"},"note":""}],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"paper","id":"x30308"}],"techniques":[{"text":"drawing","id":"x32498"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Pen and wash","categories":[{"text":"Designs","id":"THES48968"},{"text":"Ceramics","id":"THES48982"}],"styles":[{"text":"Empire","id":"AAT21269"}],"collectionCode":{"text":"PDP","id":"THES48595"},"images":["2015HW0967"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"LVLD","id":"THES49658"},"free":"","case":"92","shelf":"C","box":"12"}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"drawing","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Paris","id":"x29068"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"circa 1800","earliest":"1795-01-01","latest":"1804-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"36","unit":"cm","qualifier":"approx","date":{"text":"20/10/2015","earliest":"2015-10-20","latest":"2015-10-20"},"part":"volume","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"36","unit":"cm","qualifier":"approx","date":{"text":"20/10/2015","earliest":"2015-10-20","latest":"2015-10-20"},"part":"volume","note":""},{"dimension":"Depth","value":"3","unit":"cm","qualifier":"approx","date":{"text":"20/10/2015","earliest":"2015-10-20","latest":"2015-10-20"},"part":"volume","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Page from a volume of designs for porcelain","bibliographicReferences":[{"reference":{"text":"","id":""},"details":"","free":"See Régine de Plinval de Guillebon, Dagoty à Paris.
