It sahows Konrad Peutinger of Nuremberg (1465-1547). Peutinger is shown with naked neck and shoulders, following the antique style as seen on ancient Roman coins. All show visitors attending the Imperial Diet (Reichstag) of 1518, the meeting of the ruling body of the Holy Roman Empire. The commission made Schwarz’s reputation as the first German medallist. The naturalistic, even unflattering, likeness is characteristically German. The legend in Latin reads, ‘Konrad Peutinger lawyer aged 52’.\n","physicalDescription":"Obverse only; bust of Konrad Peutinger facing left, clean-shaven and bare-headed.
