The TV channel CBS commissioned the work for a programme exploring whether the dystopian vision of the future outlined in George Orwell’s 1984 had become a reality.\r\n\r\nThis photograph was created in 1983 close to the innovative beginnings of digital technology being used to create art works.  This image is a digital compound image made up of the faces of twentieth century dictators Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini, Mao and Khomeini.
