The Virgin is shown in half-length, embracing the Child who stands in front of her with one foot resting on the ledge at the bottom of the image. There is gilding on the haloes, on parts of the Virgin's dress, and on a garland shown suspended behind the pair. The upper part of the relief shows signs of having been broken and repaired.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Desiderio da Settignano","id":"A2380"},"association":{"text":"After","id":"THES283471"},"note":"Painted by another workshop, possibly that of Neri di Bicci."}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"stucco","id":"AAT14966"}],"techniques":[{"text":"gilding","id":"AAT53789"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Painted and gilded stucco","categories":[{"text":"Religion","id":"THES48900"},{"text":"Christianity","id":"THES48978"},{"text":"Sculpture","id":"THES48896"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"SCP","id":"THES48600"},"images":["2006AE9823","2017KB2167"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"64A","id":"THES49095"},"free":"","case":"WS","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Relief","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Florence","id":"x28848"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"ca.1455","earliest":"1450-01-01","latest":"1459-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"66","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"40.9","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Depth","value":"5","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Weight","value":"13","unit":"kg","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"Measured for the Medieval and Renaissance Galleries","marksAndInscriptions":[{"content":"Remains of an inscription along the bottom of the relief: '...ENA GLORI...'","inscriber":{"name":{"text":"","id":""},"association":{"text":"","id":""}},"date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"description":"","interpretation":"","language":"","medium":"","method":"","position":"","script":"","translation":"","transliteration":"","type":"","note":""}],"objectHistory":"Purchased in Florence.\r\nThe relief is probably a contemporary squeeze (or cast) from the marble relief by Desiderio da Settignano in the Pinacoteca at Turin.
