The obverse of the medal represents the bust of Magnus Dilher facing front, bearded and wearing a low hat. The reverse shows a coat of arms with helmet, mantling and crest. \r\n\r\nThe reverse of this medal is dated 1564, although the obverse was evidently cast from a model of 1556, this date being inscribed on the truncation.\n\nJoachim Deschler (active 1532; d. ca. 1571), was a German sculptor, architect and medallist first based in Nuremberg. In 1547 he made a two-year study journey to Venice and Rome, from which he brought back numerous drawings and works of art. From the end of the 1550s Deschler lived in Vienna, where he was court sculptor for Maximilian. Deschler had an enormous output of medal art: 115 pieces are ascribed to him, and also several stone models.","physicalDescription":"","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Deschler, Joachim","id":"A11957"},"association":{"text":"maker","id":"AAT251917"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"silver","id":"AAT11029"}],"techniques":[{"text":"casting","id":"AAT53104"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Silver","categories":[{"text":"Coins & Medals","id":"THES48974"},{"text":"Portraits","id":"THES48906"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"SCP","id":"THES48600"},"images":["2006AF6011","2006AF5991"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"004","id":"THES395563"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Medal","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""},{"apprise":"","note":""},{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Germany","id":"x28873"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"1564","earliest":"1564-01-01","latest":"1564-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""},{"date":{"text":"1556","earliest":"1556-01-01","latest":"1556-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Diameter","value":"2.8","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Weight","value":"10.6","unit":"g","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[{"content":"'1556'","inscriber":{"name":{"text":"","id":""},"association":{"text":"","id":""}},"date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"description":"","interpretation":"","language":"","medium":"","method":"","position":"On the truncation","script":"","translation":"","transliteration":"","type":"","note":"On the truncation"}],"objectHistory":"Provenance: Tross. 140 medals and reliefs were purchased from M.
