The skirt is tight with a slight flare below the knee. It is made of two panels at the front and at the back, cut in the bias of the fabric with a middle seam. The black and white stripes of the skirt are in the diagonal. The bodice has a slight V-cut neckline and has a black and white rose embroidered at waist level.\r\n\r\nNicole Groult was one of the sisters of the celebrated French costume and dress designer Paul Poiret (1879-1944). She had a brilliant career as a fashion designer in the 1920s and 1930s. Married to furniture designer Andre Groult, she was part of the French avant-garde and displayed her designs at the 1925 Paris Exhibition.
