He was accompanied by the elder van de Velde, who, according to the list of works drawn up by him in 1677, produced drawings of the visit. Cat. no. 224, however, appears to be the only known study. The Revenge, renamed as such in 1660, was built in 1654, with 62 guns. The Royal Sovereign was built in 1637, with 100 guns, and rebuilt in 1659 and 1685. The Victory was built in 1620, with 64 guns, and rebuilt in 1666. Although very probably made at other times, all three ships are known from individual studies by the elder van de Velde, now in the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Willem van de Velde the elder","id":"AUTH331251"},"association":{"text":"artist","id":"AAT25103"},"note":""},{"name":{"text":"","id":""},"association":{"text":"","id":""},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"paper","id":"x30308"},{"text":"graphite","id":"AAT11098"},{"text":"grey wash","id":"x43741"}],"techniques":[{"text":"drawing","id":"x32498"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Graphite and grey wash.","categories":[{"text":"Drawings","id":"THES48966"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"PDP","id":"THES48595"},"images":["2018LH4443","2007BM8780"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"LVLH (VA)","id":"THES49654"},"free":"","case":"PD","shelf":"120","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"drawing","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"1677","earliest":"1677-01-01","latest":"1677-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"195","unit":"mm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"865","unit":"mm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"Measured on three conjoined sheets, the right-hand made up with a narrow sheet at the bottom.","marksAndInscriptions":[{"content":"Graphite and grey wash.
