Founded in 1913 by Roger Fry, Omega Workshops was a group of artists (including Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant) who designed furniture, pottery, carpets, textiles, stained glass and whole schemes of interior decoration. The Omega textile designs were ahead of their time and set a fashion for abstract and geometric patterns. This example 'Amenophis' is likely to have been designed by the founder Roger Fry, as it appears to be based on his oil paining of 1912, <i>Still Life with Eggs and Books</i>.","physicalDescription":"Printed linen furnishing fabric with an abstract design of overlapped irregular planes and part ovals decorated with brush marks.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Fry, Roger Eliot","id":"A1427"},"association":{"text":"designer","id":"AAT25190"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[{"name":{"text":"Omega Workshops","id":"A7158"},"association":{"text":"designed for","id":"x41471"},"note":""},{"name":{"text":"Besselievre","id":"A13608"},"association":{"text":"printer","id":"x30811"},"note":""}],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"linen","id":"x29412"},{"text":"wool yarn","id":"x30441"}],"techniques":[{"text":"printing","id":"AAT53319"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Printed linen","categories":[{"text":"Textiles","id":"THES48885"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"T&F","id":"THES48601"},"images":["2006AL4970","2010EL5976","2012FM7897","2018KY7219"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"004","id":"THES307872"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Furnishing fabric","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"No","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Maromme","id":"x38559"},"association":{"text":"printed","id":"AAT53319"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"1913","earliest":"1913-01-01","latest":"1913-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[{"object":{"text":"MA/1/A826/1","id":"ARC147131"},"association":"Archive record"}],"creditLine":"Given by Mrs Margaret H.
