One cartouche has the Latin motto: 'TANDEM DIDICISSE IUVAbit' and below in German: 'Im anfang zwar häts offt gefahr, Doch bringts nütz, wan mans glernet gar'. (Although the beginning is often dangerous, it is useful when one has learnt it). The second cartouche has the motto: 'PRODIT SESE INCLUTA VIRT' and below: 'Wass guts will werden aus eim Kindt, Sicht man auch in der iugendt geschwindt.' (One can already see in childhood how a man will develop). The third motto is: 'MIHI VIR SI PARTA TUETUR' and below: 'Ein Aal leicht widr entschlupffen kan, Wer was hatt und bhelts ist ein man.'
