Most photographs in the series are taken in his house (now a museum) in Hammarby near Uppsala, Sweden. Linnaeus furnished his home as a kind of personal museum. Almost every detail of the arrangement has a close relationship to his work. In the bedroom the walls were papered with proof copies of drawings by Charles Plumier (French botanist, 1646-1704) and Georg Ehret (botanical artist,1707-1770). The curtain on the bed is printed with a decoration based on his favourite flower, the Linnaea borealis. There are other photographs by Schenson of Linnaeus' house in the V&A (see 72:384 and 72:387).","physicalDescription":"Sepia photograph of a bedroom in which we see a display case for specimens, floral wallpaper and a four-poster bed with curtains of a floral pattern","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Schenson, Emma","id":"A11739"},"association":{"text":"photographer","id":"AAT25687"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"paper","id":"x30308"}],"techniques":[{"text":"Albumen process","id":"AAT133274"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Albumen-silver print from glass negative","categories":[{"text":"Science","id":"THES48898"},{"text":"Illustration","id":"THES48938"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"PDP","id":"THES48595"},"images":["2006AG1510"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"LVLF","id":"THES49656"},"free":"","case":"X","shelf":"430","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"photograph","id":"AAT46300"}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Hammarby","id":"x37888"},"association":{"text":"photographed","id":"x30151"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"1864","earliest":"1864-01-01","latest":"1864-12-31"},"association":{"text":"photographed","id":"x30151"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"16.3","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"13.8","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"Image size","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Emma Schenson (1827-1913); The Bedroom of Linnaeus; albumen-silver print from glass negative; 1864","bibliographicReferences":[],"production":"Carl von Linne (Linnaeus) lived at Hammarby, near Uppsala, Sweden\n\nReason For Production: Retail","productionType":{"text":"Unlimited edition","id":"THES48868"},"contentDescription":"","contentPlaces":[{"text":"Hammarby","id":"x37888"}],"associatedPlaces":[],"contentPerson":[{"text":"Linnaeus","id":"N3661"}],"associatedPerson":[],"contentOrganisations":[],"associatedOrganisations":[],"contentPeople":[],"associatedPeople":[],"contentEvents":[],"associatedEvents":[],"contentOthers":[{"text":"Bedroom","id":"AAT4364"},{"text":"illustrations","id":"AAT15595"},{"text":"furniture","id":"AAT37680"},{"text":"wall-coverings","id":"AAT37353"}],"contentConcepts":[],"contentLiteraryRefs":[],"galleryLabels":[{"text":"Emma Schenson 1827-1913\r\nThe Bedroom of Linnaeus\r\n1864\r\n\r\nAlmost every detail of this room has a close relationship to Linnaeus's work.
