Wing was employed by the \r\nLondon bookseller John Boykett Jarman to restore his \r\nmanuscripts collection damaged by a flood in 1846. \r\nHe enhanced many volumes, adding decoration and \r\nfull leaves. This miniature, today believed to be genuine, \r\nprobably came from one of Jarman’s manuscripts and \r\ngot mixed with copies in Wing’s workshop.<br>\r\n<br>\r\nMassacre of the Innocents, from a book of hours<br>\r\nGhent or Bruges, Flanders (now Belgium), about 1500<br>\r\nInk, gold, watercolour and bodycolour on parchment<br>\r\nMuseum no.
