","physicalDescription":"Painting, in opaque watercolour on paper, the marigold plant is painted on the plain buff ground of the paper. It is shown as a plant growing out of miniature tufts of grass with branching leaf stems, two buds and three yellow blooms on slender stems. The detailing of the stems, leaves and flowers are rendered by hatching and outlining in darker tones. The painting has an inner border of strips of beige paper outlined in black lines at the outer edge and lines in gold and green on its inner side, picked out with a red innermost ruled line. The main border is of a plain buff colour with strips of grey paper and black rulings at its outer margins and a beige-coloured strip on the inner edge which acts as a gutter for the binding of the album.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Unknown","id":"A1848"},"association":{"text":"","id":""},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"opaque watercolour","id":"x35013"},{"text":"paint","id":"AAT15029"},{"text":"paper","id":"AAT14109"}],"techniques":[{"text":"painted","id":"AAT54216"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Painted in opaque watercolour on paper","categories":[{"text":"Paintings","id":"THES48917"},{"text":"Bonita Trust Indian Paintings Cataloguing Project","id":"THES263148"}],"styles":[{"text":"Mughal","id":"AAT18939"}],"collectionCode":{"text":"SSEA","id":"THES48598"},"images":["2006BL1670","2006AP9963"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"004","id":"THES406584"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Painting","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Mughal Empire","id":"THES262021"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"late 17th century","earliest":"1650-01-01","latest":"1699-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":"possibly"},{"date":{"text":"early 18th century","earliest":"1700-01-01","latest":"1750-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":"possibly"}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Gift of Mr. John Goelet","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"22.2","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"central painting","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"12.2","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"central apinting","note":""},{"dimension":"Diameter","value":"35.5","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"page","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"23.5","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"page","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[{"content":"Persian inscription in red and black numerals at the lower part of the painting","inscriber":{"name":{"text":"","id":""},"association":{"text":"","id":""}},"date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"description":"","interpretation":"","language":"Persian","medium":"","method":"","position":"","script":"Nasta'liq","translation":"","transliteration":"","type":"","note":""}],"objectHistory":"This miniature painting is part of the Small Clive Album of Indian miniatures which is thought to have been given by Shuja ud-Daula, the Nawab of Avadh, to Lord Clive during his last visit to India in 1765-67.
