This is achieved through a variety of means, such as changes in the wax, new moulds taken from an existing bronze or the reuse of the existing model. This group (together with inv.no. A.54-1956) are clearly based on a similar model but represent two different scenes from the Old Testament. They derive from a marble sculpture of Cain and Abel by Diogini Bussola in Milan Cathedral. In the other similar version (inv.no. A.54-1956) the figures have been adapted as Samson attacking a Philistine with the jawbone of an ass.","physicalDescription":"Cain, holding down Abel by his neck, is shown with his right hand raised about to strike his brother.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Bussola, Dionigi","id":"A11507"},"association":{"text":"after","id":"THES283471"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"bronze","id":"AAT10957"}],"techniques":[],"materialsAndTechniques":"Bronze","categories":[{"text":"Sculpture","id":"THES48896"},{"text":"Bronze","id":"THES49033"},{"text":"Christianity","id":"THES48978"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"SCP","id":"THES48600"},"images":["2006AE9216"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"111 (VA)","id":"THES49918"},"free":"","case":"CA4","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Statuette","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Milan","id":"x29007"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"1650-1700","earliest":"1650-01-01","latest":"1700-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[{"object":{"text":"A.54-1956","id":"O89482"},"association":"Version"}],"creditLine":"Bequeathed by Dr W.
