It is a miniature version of the type of house that was commonly found in both town and country in the 18th century. By the end of that century toy shops had appeared in most major cities. It is likely that this little house would have been bought in a shop.","physicalDescription":"This house is in the style of a plain Georgian house of the 18th century in England and is made from deal and mahogany with mahogany mouldings. There are mouldings at attic level and also between the upper and lower storeys. The house has four rooms and a staircase and is on three levels;a ground floor with four windows, an upper floor with five windows, and an attic with two windows. There are two pillars on each side of the door but there is no pediment.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Unknown","id":"A1848"},"association":{"text":"","id":""},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"Wood","id":"AAT11914"},{"text":"Mahogany","id":"AAT12221"},{"text":"Paint","id":"AAT15029"}],"techniques":[{"text":"moulding","id":"AAT53134"},{"text":"painting image making","id":"AAT54216"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Wood","categories":[{"text":"Children & Childhood","id":"THES48980"},{"text":"Dolls & Toys","id":"THES48967"},{"text":"Dolls' houses","id":"THES274382"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"YVA","id":"THES48593"},"images":["2007BP8211","2007BP8207","2007BP8206","2007BP8205","2007BP8204","2007BP8203","2007BP8202","2006AH1435","2006AU0136","2006AL7320","2006AL7319"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"001","id":"THES411637"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Dolls' house","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"England","id":"x28826"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"1750-1800","earliest":"1750-01-01","latest":"1800-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Given by Miss Margaret Hodges","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Length","value":"58.4","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Height","value":"38.1","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Small dolls' house probably commercially made in England between 1750 and 1800","bibliographicReferences":[],"production":"","productionType":{"text":"","id":""},"contentDescription":"","contentPlaces":[],"associatedPlaces":[],"contentPerson":[],"associatedPerson":[],"contentOrganisations":[],"associatedOrganisations":[],"contentPeople":[],"associatedPeople":[],"contentEvents":[],"associatedEvents":[],"contentOthers":[],"contentConcepts":[],"contentLiteraryRefs":[],"galleryLabels":[{"text":"This house is small but beautifully detailed.
