Following Nadir's death there followed a period of economic and political instability in Iran and it seems improbable that a textile of such quality and containing so much metal thread would have been produced during this time. Therefore a production date of 1736 to 1747 is most likely.","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Middle East, Textile; Brocaded silk fragment, with design of falconers on horseback among pink roses and blue tulips against gold ground, Afsharid Iran, 1736-1750","bibliographicReferences":[{"reference":{"text":"","id":""},"details":"","free":"'Masterpiece: the tale behind an Afsharid figural silk from the V&A, London' by Jennifer Wearden in 'Hali' issue 153 Autumn 2007 pp.64-5."},{"reference":{"text":"Jennifer Wearden and Patricia L.
