Large quantities of Valencian tiles were exported to Naples in the mid-15th century, and locally made versions quickly appeared. The earliest known example is the pavement of the Carraciolo chapel of the church of San Giovanni a Carbonara in Naples, from which this tile came. Dating sometime after 1442, this floor contains tiles that were almost certainly made locally, although more than one workshop appears to have been involved in their production.","physicalDescription":"Fragment of a haxagonal tile of tin-glazed earthenware, painted in blue","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Unknown","id":"A1848"},"association":{"text":"","id":""},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"earthenware","id":"x29356"},{"text":"tin glaze","id":"AAT233436"}],"techniques":[{"text":"glazing","id":"AAT53914"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Tin-glazed earthenware, painted","categories":[{"text":"Ceramics","id":"THES48982"},{"text":"Tiles","id":"THES48884"}],"styles":[{"text":"Renaissance","id":"AAT21140"}],"collectionCode":{"text":"CER","id":"THES48594"},"images":["2006AH1627","2017JV3494"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"010","id":"THES339529"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Tile, fragment","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Naples (city)","id":"x32548"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":"probably"}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"1442-50","earliest":"1442-01-01","latest":"1450-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Length","value":"15.2","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"Henry Wallis Collection, From the church of San Giovanni a Carbonara, Naples.","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Fragment of a haxagonal tile of tin-glazed earthenware, painted in blue, probably Napels, Italy, 1442-50","bibliographicReferences":[{"reference":{"text":"Graves, Alun.
