The brightly coloured packaging advertised their goods and made them stand out on shop shelves. \r\n\r\nIn the 1920s and 1930s taking afternoon tea was a social occasion. A proper afternoon tea would include sandwiches, as well as scones, cakes or biscuits. Home-baking was common, but women could also buy an increasing number of shop-bought convenience foods, such as packaged biscuits.","physicalDescription":"Colour lithographic print on paper","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Unknown","id":"A1848"},"association":{"text":"","id":""},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[],"techniques":[],"materialsAndTechniques":"Colour lithograph on paper","categories":[{"text":"Food vessels & Tableware","id":"THES48952"},{"text":"Eating","id":"THES48963"},{"text":"Labels & packaging","id":"THES48927"},{"text":"Tea, Coffee & Chocolate wares","id":"THES48886"},{"text":"Ephemera","id":"THES252985"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"PDP","id":"THES48595"},"images":["2006AG2407"],"imageResolution":"low","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"LVLF (VA)","id":"THES49656"},"free":"","case":"EDUC","shelf":"5","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Label","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Great Britain","id":"x32019"},"association":{"text":"printed","id":"AAT53319"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"ca. 1928","earliest":"1923-01-01","latest":"1932-12-31"},"association":{"text":"printed","id":"AAT53319"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Given by M.
