He was on the bill with Fred Ginnett, whom Cooke also drew that week. It is one of the many superb caricatures of Edwardian music hall performers that were drawn by the artist George Cooke and compiled in a series of albums.\r\n\r\nBob Hutt never became a top-billing artist, but was one of hundreds of stand-up comedians working in variety about 1900. From this image it seems that Hutt appeared on stage in various guises. He is seen here as a ‘toff’, a country yokel and a rather bemused concert singer with the sheet music for ‘Jerusalem’ (but not the Charles Parry hymn of 1916). This was Hutt’s second appearance at the Grand in 1904, his first being during the week of 11 April.
