The fritware body was covered in a finely ground single-colour or monochrome tinted quartz slip. The range of colours included the relief -red, and salmon pink to chocolate brown. Designs were trailed in similar slip either left white or tinted cobalt for blue or with iron oxide (along with silica crystal) for the relief red. Details were often painted in manganese black.","physicalDescription":"Dish, fritware, with broad barbed rim, covered with a chocolate-brown-coloured quartz slip, and painted in a thick white and blue slip with details in black, depicting seven white tulips and blue flowers with stems and foliage, the border similarly painted","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Unknown","id":"A1848"},"association":{"text":"","id":""},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"fritware","id":"x29419"}],"techniques":[{"text":"underglazing","id":"AAT48642"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Fritware, covered in chocolate-brown slip, polychrome underglaze painted, glazed","categories":[{"text":"Ceramics","id":"THES48982"},{"text":"Islam","id":"THES48932"}],"styles":[{"text":"Iznik","id":"AAT21623"},{"text":"Ottoman","id":"AAT21614"}],"collectionCode":{"text":"MES","id":"THES48607"},"images":["2006BK2439","2006BK2436","2017KB2989"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"143 (VA)","id":"THES49867"},"free":"","case":"17","shelf":"3","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Dish","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Iznik","id":"x32510"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""},{"place":{"text":"Turkey","id":"x29225"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"1575","earliest":"1575-01-01","latest":"1575-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Salting Bequest","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Diameter","value":"30.2","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Dish, fritware, painted with seven white tulips on chocolate-brown slip, Turkey (Iznik), circa 1560.","bibliographicReferences":[{"reference":{"text":"Lane, Arthur.
