It is the only remaining original part of the border of the window dedicated to the <i>Tree of Jesse</i> in the choir of the abbey church of Saint-Denis, near Paris. The border now in place in the church is entirely modern. The <i>Tree of Jesse</i> is a symbolic representation of the ancestors of Jesus Christ.
