It is one of a series of five designs for the St Catherine's Wheel Tapestries. They hung in the Hall at St Catherine's College, Oxford. Phillips was a graduate of the College. He based this design on the wheel on which St Catherine of Alexandria was martyred in the 4th century. The Edinburgh Tapestry Co. wove the tapestries, which were completed in 1979.","physicalDescription":"A vertical design of overlapping wheels. The wheels in the centre are in blues and greys. The wheels at the bottom centre and at the sides are in darker browns than the upper wheels which are in autumnal russet browns.
