The habit of snuff-taking spread to China from the West during the 17th century and became established in the 18th century. People generally carried snuff in a small bottle. By the 20th century these bottles had become collectors' items, owing to the great variety of materials and decorative techniques used in their production.","physicalDescription":"The bottle is a rounded flattened flask form, curving gently to a narrow base; the  neck is long in relation to the size of the bottle. It has a two-part dome-shaped stopper.\r\nIt is made of chalcedony, mushroom coloured with dark brown inclusions, with decoration carved in very low relief. The stopper of turquoise and amethyst.\r\nThe carved relief depicts a catfish.
