The modelling of the plant is achieved by hatched lines in deeper tones. It is framed with applied strips of pinkish-beige paper outlined in black ink.  This is pasted onto a border with a plain ivory-coloured ground with applied strips of green paper and black outlines at the outer edges. A strip of beige woven textile has been added along the left hand and edge to act as a gutter for the binding of the album. It contains 56 leaves on which are Mughal paintings, drawings and flower studies on both sides. The album was rebound in the mid nineteenth century with a striped Indian brocade, patterned with rows of flower sprigs, possibly made in southern India.  The silk may have been cut from lengths brought home by the 2nd Lord Clive, who served as Governor of Madras, 1799 to 1803.
