It is framed with slips of green painted paper with inner black ink lines over gold and an outer margin of gold paper with two black outlines. This is pasted onto a plain ivory ground paper with strips of brown paper applied at the outer edges with two black ruled lines and remnants of a gold line.  A strip of beige woven textile has been stuck over the inner edge to act as a gutter for the album binding. It contains 56 leaves on which are Mughal paintings, drawings and flower studies on both sides. The album was rebound in the mid nineteenth century with a striped Indian brocade, patterned with rows of flower sprigs, possibly made in southern India.  The silk may have been cut from lengths brought home by the 2nd Lord Clive, who served as Governor of Madras, 1799 to 1803.
