The three photographs in the V&A collection were all exhibited in her final degree show and acquired at that time. They are part of a larger body of work, titled 'Five People Thinking the Same Thing'. Kearney's work is concerned with the passing of time within a domestic setting, often with the subjects absorbed in what Kearney has described as \"lost time\".","physicalDescription":"Man kneeling at a domestic fireplace with a plastic jug in his hand. He appears to have extinguished a fire. Like the other images in the set, he has his back towards the camera. He kneels on a patterned rug. He is wearing red trousers, a blue shirt and brown boots. Book cases flank the fireplace.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Kearney, Frances","id":"A4893"},"association":{"text":"photographer","id":"AAT25687"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"photographic paper","id":"AAT14190"},{"text":"aluminium","id":"AAT11015"}],"techniques":[{"text":"C-type process","id":"THES258425"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"c-type print mounted on aluminium","categories":[{"text":"Photographs","id":"THES48910"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"PDP","id":"THES48595"},"images":["2013GG1660"],"imageResolution":"low","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"A","id":"THES304257"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"photograph","id":"AAT46300"}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Great Britain","id":"x32019"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":"probably"}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"1999","earliest":"1999-01-01","latest":"1999-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[{"object":{"text":"E.498-1998","id":"O83971"},"association":"Set"},{"object":{"text":"E.496-1998","id":"O83910"},"association":"Set"}],"creditLine":"","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"122.5","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"print","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"153.9","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"print","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"These photographs are part of a larger body of work, titled <I> Five People Thinking the Same Thing</i> but only these images were exhibited at the summer degree show.","historicalContext":"Frances Kearney graduated from the Photography MA course at the Royal College of Art. These three photographs were all exhibited in her final degree show in the Summer of 1998. Kearney creates a subtle narrative, focussing on the representation of human thought and emotion, that relates well to the photography by Lady Hawarden. Her work is concerned with the passing of time within a domestic setting, often with the subjects absorbed in what Kearney has described as \"lost time\".","briefDescription":"Kearney, Frances. Clothes, expressions and posture are all contrived for the photograph, and scenes are re-worked until a sense of stillness is achieved. Kearney’s figures convey a monumental and meditative quality, absorbed in what she has described as ‘lost time’. They are caught at a moment of personal reflection, perhaps waiting for something to happen. \r\n\r\nC-type prints \r\nMuseum nos.
