(1885 –1957)\r\nBorn in England, made prints in England and France\r\nPrintmaking activity: 1908 –1951\r\nGwen Raverat studied painting at the Slade School of Art from 1908 –1911 but taught herself wood engraving after complaining that: ‘no one at the Slade took the least interest in wood engraving.’ She was the only woman artist to be a founding member of the Society of Wood Engravers, and in 1920 became an Associate of the Royal Society of Painter-Etchers.
