A miniature on ivory of <i>Benjamin Franklin</i>, now in the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Massachusetts, is similarly signed. An entry in Franklin's accounts reveals that the painter of the miniature, ‘C. D.’, was C. Dixon. We do not know what his first name was.
