F. Gigoux and the Earl of Warwick' according to a note in the register of accessions; Dr Benno Geiger (sale, Sotheby, 9 December 1920, bought by the museum)\n\nThe mask is like some of those shown in four similar sets of engraving published about the middle of the 16th century. They are: (a) by Boyvin, dated 1560 (Collijn, <i>Katalog der Ornamentstichsammlung</i>, Stockholm, 1933, no. 29); (b) by Frans Huys after Cornelius Floris (Hollstein, 9, nos. 35-52); (c) probably by Giorgio Ghisi (K. Oberhuber, Exhibition Catalogue, <i>Die Kunst der Graphik III.
