Very little is known about his life and his training is unknown.\r\n\r\nThis painting is a fine example of Bryner's output essentially composed of mountain views. Here is depicted the city of Lausanne on the edges of the lake Leman in Switzerland. The artist combined here a town view with a landscape by depicting the Alps chain in the background. Bryner produced a few views of different Swiss cities, which he later engraved. The warm golden glow enlivened by pink and blue hues is characteristic of Bryner's palette.","physicalDescription":"A town in the mid distance before a lake and a moutainous chain in the background; a path, a fence, trees and bushes in the foreground; large cloudy sky.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Bryner, Jean","id":"A9744"},"association":{"text":"painter (artist)","id":"AAT25136"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"oil paint","id":"AAT15050"},{"text":"millboard","id":"AAT14233"}],"techniques":[{"text":"oil painting","id":"AAT178684"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Oil on millboard","categories":[{"text":"Paintings","id":"THES48917"}],"styles":[{"text":"Swiss School","id":"x31273"}],"collectionCode":{"text":"PDP","id":"THES48595"},"images":["2007BP0660"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"B","id":"THES304891"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"oil paintings","id":"AAT33799"}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Lausanne","id":"x36502"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"ca. 1850-1868","earliest":"1845-01-01","latest":"1868-12-31"},"association":{"text":"painted","id":"x30138"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Bequeathed by Rev.
