Preissler would have bought it as a plain white piece and decorated it in his own workshop during the decade 1720-30.  He used a combination of black (Schwarzlot) and red (Eisenrot) enamels to depict what is thought to be a view of Paris with the towers of Notre Dame viewed across the broad sweep of the river Seine.
