Although individual pieces rarely date back any earlier than the 19th century, the designs are very old, and European observers liked to find traces of Roman or Phoenician influence.\r\n\r\nThis bracelet, with stylised serpent’s heads at the ends, is a very old design which may well date back to Roman times.  It comes from the Aurès region of Algeria.\r\n","physicalDescription":"Silver penannular bracelet made from a length of thick wire with the ends shaped like stylised animal heads.
