The da Ravenna composition lacks the festoon leaves in the central column and the vertical engraved lines in the background. It is noted by Elizabeth Miller that it is possible the engraving by da Ravenna was created before the engraving by Raimondi, however there is no evidence to determine which printmaker made their prints first. \n\r\nThere is also a later copy (DYCE.1060) by an unknown printmaker which is inscribed 'R', as well as a later copy in etching (29463) by another unknown printmaker dating to the 18th century.","physicalDescription":"Engraving depicting two caryatids supporting a censer which rests partially on a truncated column.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Raimondi, Marcantonio","id":"N12861"},"association":{"text":"print-makers","id":"AAT25164"},"note":""},{"name":{"text":"Raphael","id":"A5306"},"association":{"text":"after","id":"THES283471"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"printing ink","id":"AAT187371"},{"text":"paper (fiber product)","id":"AAT14109"}],"techniques":[{"text":"engraving (printing process)","id":"AAT53225"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Engraving","categories":[{"text":"Ornament prints","id":"THES49038"},{"text":"Prints","id":"THES48903"}],"styles":[{"text":"Italian School","id":"x31264"},{"text":"Renaissance","id":"AAT21140"}],"collectionCode":{"text":"PDP","id":"THES48595"},"images":["2006BF0918","2013GN8661"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"LVLD","id":"THES49658"},"free":"","case":"EO","shelf":"130","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"print","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Italy","id":"x28927"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"1520-27","earliest":"1520-01-01","latest":"1527-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[{"object":{"text":"E.4314-1919","id":"O824855"},"association":"Impression"},{"object":{"text":"E.3847-1906","id":"O845839"},"association":"Impression"},{"object":{"text":"DYCE.1059","id":"O1153118"},"association":"Impression"}],"creditLine":"Salting Bequest","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"31","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"Cut to","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"16.8","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"Cut to","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Engraving of a censer by Marcantonio Raimondi, after a design by Raphael, Italy, 1520-27","bibliographicReferences":[{"reference":{"text":"Delaborde, Henri. 1888. <i>Marc-Antoine Raimondi; Étude Historique et Critique Suivie d’Un Catalogue Raisonné Des Œuvres Du Maître. </i>Paris: Librairie de l’Art.","id":"AUTH410841"},"details":"p. 236","free":""},{"reference":{"text":"Victoria and Albert Museum, and Elizabeth Miller. 16th-Century Italian Ornament Prints in the Victoria and Albert Museum.
