This poster is in support of Eugene McCarthy, the US Senator for Minnesota. In 1968, at a time of increasing military activity in South East Asia, McCarthy - a strong opponent of the Vietnam War - challenged President Lyndon Johnson in the Democrats' presidential nominations. Johnson stood down, but McCarthy did not gain the nomination.
