According to the story, having reached the town of Nachor Eliezer prayed that the first woman who offered him and his camels water would become Isaac's wife. \r\n\r\nA dish with an identical decoration was found by Michael Hatcher in 1985 in the cargo of the Geldermalsen, a VOC ship that sank in January 1752 while sailing from Canton to Batavia. Other similar dishes are known, including one in the V&A collection (C.771-1917), but the tureen is perhaps the only example of a serving vessel with this scene.","physicalDescription":"","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Unknown","id":"A1848"},"association":{"text":"","id":""},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"porcelain","id":"AAT10662"}],"techniques":[],"materialsAndTechniques":"Porcelain painted in overglaze polychrome enamels and decorated with gilt","categories":[{"text":"Porcelain","id":"THES48907"},{"text":"Household objects","id":"THES48939"},{"text":"Ceramics","id":"THES48982"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"EAS","id":"THES48596"},"images":["2010EA4789"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"136 (VA)","id":"THES49877"},"free":"","case":"9","shelf":"4","box":""},{"current":{"text":"136 (VA)","id":"THES49877"},"free":"","case":"9","shelf":"4","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"TUREEN","id":""}],[{"text":"LID","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""},{"apprise":"","note":""},{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"China","id":"x29398"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"ca. 1750","earliest":"1745-01-01","latest":"1754-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Bequeathed by Basil Ionides","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"17.78","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Diameter","value":"22.86","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Tureen and cover, porcelain decorated with scenes of Rececca at the well, China, Qing dynasty, ca. 1750","bibliographicReferences":[{"reference":{"text":"Kerr, Rose and Luisa E.
