Fringed beaded handbags matched beaded evening dresses, which, loosely cut and simply styled, with their weight emphasised every movement. This bag was made by Madame Belville in her studio in Paris. She had a small factory where the beads were specially made.","physicalDescription":"Beaded and fringed handbag with a pattern of red poppies on a dark blue background and a shaped border of gold beads all round. The beads are threaded on black thread. The frame is of gilt metal in the form of trellis work with roses, and has a round button fastening and a double chain handle. At the bottom is a fringe of red, blue and gold beads. It is lined with pink silk.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Madame Belville","id":"A7886"},"association":{"text":"maker","id":"AAT251917"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"gilt metal","id":"x35080"},{"text":"beads","id":"x35177"},{"text":"silk (textile)","id":"AAT243428"}],"techniques":[],"materialsAndTechniques":"Beaded, gilt-metal and lined with silk","categories":[{"text":"Accessories","id":"THES48998"},{"text":"Womenswear","id":"THES49044"},{"text":"Fashion","id":"THES48957"},{"text":"Textiles","id":"THES48885"},{"text":"Bags","id":"THES284620"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"T&F","id":"THES48601"},"images":["2019LK6014","2006AP0154"],"imageResolution":"low","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"011","id":"THES306627"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Handbag","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"France","id":"x28849"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"ca. 1920-1930","earliest":"1915-01-01","latest":"1930-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Given by Madame Bodin","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Length","value":"14.25","unit":"in","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"including fringe","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"7","unit":"in","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Beaded and fringed handbag, made by Madame Belville, France, ca. 1920-1930","bibliographicReferences":[],"production":"","productionType":{"text":"","id":""},"contentDescription":"","contentPlaces":[],"associatedPlaces":[],"contentPerson":[],"associatedPerson":[],"contentOrganisations":[],"associatedOrganisations":[],"contentPeople":[],"associatedPeople":[],"contentEvents":[],"associatedEvents":[],"contentOthers":[],"contentConcepts":[],"contentLiteraryRefs":[],"galleryLabels":[{"text":"ADORNMENT\n\nWhether crystal-encrusted or trimmed with exotic feathers, evening bags can finish an outfit like a piece of fine jewellery.
