In this, the first official Olympics poster, Olle Hjörtzberg portrays the male body as a perfect machine, a symbol of supremacy. The original design, featuring nude athletes, was replaced by this version, in which strategically placed streamers have been added. The poster was printed in 16 languages and three formats, though it was not distributed to countries where it was considered the image might be thought too daring.","physicalDescription":"Poster","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Hjörtzberg, Olle","id":"A7819"},"association":{"text":"artist","id":"AAT25103"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"printing ink","id":"AAT187371"}],"techniques":[{"text":"printing","id":"AAT53319"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Colour lithograph","categories":[{"text":"Sport","id":"THES48893"},{"text":"Posters","id":"THES252963"},{"text":"Olympics","id":"THES260705"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"PDP","id":"THES48595"},"images":["2006AU2283","2019LJ4832"],"imageResolution":"low","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"LVLC","id":"THES49171"},"free":"","case":"MB3G","shelf":"DR33","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"poster","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Sweden","id":"x29198"},"association":{"text":"printed","id":"AAT53319"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"1911","earliest":"1911-01-01","latest":"1911-12-31"},"association":{"text":"printed","id":"AAT53319"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Given by the Editor of <i>Commercial Art and Industry</i>.
