They had been part of the suffragette campaigning and were also members of various human rights and equality councils.  The Baillie-Weavers were active in a range of progressive political causes affecting both animals and people. A statue entitled 'Protecting the Defenceless' by C. L. Hartwell is dedicated to them for their pioneering work in founding the National Council for Animal Welfare.  It stands in the St John's Lodge public gardens of Regent's Park in London.","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Poster by J. and M.
