The lady is unknown, yet she must have been a wealthy woman, judging by her heavy and elaborate jewellery, complete with necklace, chain, earrings, jewels on the front and shoulders of her dress, and a kind of aigrette in her hair. The edges of her starched ruff are also elaborately decorated with red textile ties. In an age when clothes were assumed to be an accurate indicator of status, it was judged essential to wear your wealth, especially when being immortalised in a portrait.","physicalDescription":"Portrait miniature of a woman, head and shoulders, oval frame with a loop at top; the six of diamonds is printed on reverse of the backing sheet on which the portrait is mounted.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Nicholas Hilliard","id":"A8506"},"association":{"text":"artist","id":"AAT25103"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"vellum","id":"x42751"},{"text":"watercolour","id":"AAT15045"},{"text":"card","id":"x30344"}],"techniques":[{"text":"painting","id":"AAT54216"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Watercolour on vellum stuck onto a playing card ","categories":[{"text":"Portraits","id":"THES48906"},{"text":"Paintings","id":"THES48917"}],"styles":[{"text":"Elizabethan","id":"AAT21036"},{"text":"Tudor","id":"AAT21035"},{"text":"English School","id":"x44855"}],"collectionCode":{"text":"PDP","id":"THES48595"},"images":["2006AF8791","2006AP6268","2006BB4227"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"LVLF","id":"THES49656"},"free":"","case":"RMC","shelf":"1","box":"B"}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"miniature","id":"AAT33936"}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"England","id":"x28826"},"association":{"text":"painted","id":"x30138"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"1590-1593","earliest":"1590-01-01","latest":"1593-12-31"},"association":{"text":"painted","id":"x30138"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Bequeathed by E.
