The workshop may have been the one of Gerrit van de Kaade. \r\n\r\nDuring the 18th century many plain white or lightly decorated porcelain produced at the Jingdezhen or Dehua kilns in China were enamelled or gilded in Europe. Japanese patterns, such as Kakiemon ad Imari, were particularly popular among European customers. Other wares were enamelled with European designs that could not be obtained from China. Many were ‘over-decorated’ because they were too plain for European taste. The main centres for this work were England and the Netherlands.","physicalDescription":"Plate, in the middle are two parrots, one perched on a budding rose-tree, the other on a stump pecking at a cherry which it holds with its claws. Round the rim is a border of conventional flowers and foliage on a continous stem.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Unknown","id":"A1848"},"association":{"text":"","id":""},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"porcelain","id":"AAT10662"}],"techniques":[{"text":"enamelled","id":"x30139"},{"text":"gilded","id":"AAT53789"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Porcelain decorated with polychrome enamels and gilded","categories":[{"text":"Porcelain","id":"THES48907"},{"text":"Household objects","id":"THES48939"},{"text":"Ceramics","id":"THES48982"},{"text":"Porcelain","id":"THES48907"}],"styles":[{"text":"Qing","id":"AAT18478"},{"text":"Chinese export","id":"AAT120350"}],"collectionCode":{"text":"EAS","id":"THES48596"},"images":["2008BT0441","2006BF5007","2017KB2024"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"145 (VA)","id":"THES49865"},"free":"","case":"21","shelf":"3","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"PLATE","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Jingdezhen","id":"x32230"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""},{"place":{"text":"Netherlands","id":"x29020"},"association":{"text":"decorated","id":"AAT56257"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"ca. 1710-1725","earliest":"1705-01-01","latest":"1725-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""},{"date":{"text":"ca. 1725-1735","earliest":"1720-01-01","latest":"1735-12-31"},"association":{"text":"decorated","id":"AAT56257"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Given by Mrs Julia C.
