It is for a silver cream jug, although the design is actually inscribed ‘milk pot’. The mixture of styles is typical of the medium and period. The handle has a Rococo scroll form, although it is less graceful than 18th century versions. The spout is based on an even earlier 17th century form. The decoration is rather poorly drawn. It would look better when it was engraved or chased on the finished vessel.
