In this case it is the Hindu Jagannatha temple in Puri, Orissa, eastern India, built in the 12th century. Metalworkers in Cuttack in Orissa used silver filigree to make jewellery, often in a westernised style. They also made miniature buildings. Here, the model maker has copied the shape of the tower of the temple fairly accurately but invented the detailed filigree patterns.
