Best known as an illustrator, her commissions were wide-ranging including illustrations for editions of Chinese folk tales and the Koran, as well as producing a great deal of lesbian and bisexual erotica, and portraits of outsiders, most notably an etching series on female criminals in 1927. She was married three times before starting a relationship with Karl Marx's neice, Erica Marx in 1940. They left the Nazi threat in Europe for Buenos Aires, spending the next three decades together working between France, the UK, and Argentina.","physicalDescription":"One of three hand-coloured lithographs to illustrate a French publication of Ovid's 'The Art of Love'.
