The mark is struck three times imperfectly on the upper section of the outside of the cup."}],"objectHistory":"Historical significance: Only 16 English gadrooned pewter loving cups are known to survive and all were either made in London or Wigan. The London cups are characterised by a second band of gadrooning below the lip, in keeping with silver examples of the same date. The Wigan cups have incised lines in place of the gadrooning.
