A vase of flowers appears in each of the bottom corners and there is a broad border filled with undulating floral branches. Lowenthal\r\nThis chintz bed- or wall-hanging is missing its top section, but it remains an impressive piece because of the quality of its design, draughts-manship and dyeing.\r\nThe fine red designs on a white ground would have required the expert use of an alum mordant or fixative. The fine white motifs against a coloured ground were drawn in wax-resisted lines with a simple bamboo pen.
